clinic and shearwater at the troubadour

clinic, troubadour

Hawaiian shirts look great accessorised with surgeons’ masks.

Clinic are still wonderful.

Shearwater have some lovely songs. (I downloaded Leviathan from their Myspace page. It makes good falling-asleep-on-the-bus-across-Los-Angeles-in-rush-hour music.)

Dita Dimone was there.

This site is currently top ranked for the search terms “hazmat porn”.

I’m tired and can’t see straight.

lykke li at the el rey, jane birkin with no top on

lykke li, el rey

Lykke Li’s Myspace page lists her influences as “Late nights/early mornings. Jane Birkin with no top on.”

I really liked her EP, and I really, really, really liked her live, but the topless Jane Birkin thing sealed the deal.

Back when I had better hair, someone (in an entirely unexpected moment of temporary genius) said to me “You should take your shirt off. You’d look just like Jane Birkin.”

“This song is about living with the wrong person, for an entire lifetime.” Oh, how I love those cheerful Scandinavians.

Seriously, I really do.

According to Flickr’s super duper map technology, The Troubadour is located “in Norma Triangle, West Hollywood”.

sugar, crystal antlers, gods gang

Sugar Hair Salon had Crystal Antlers, Bipolar Bear and Gods Gang play in their backyard the other weekend. There were cute dogs and yummy tamales, too. You should get your hair cut there.

PS — I just played the Walter Meego song Girls, and now I think I’m going to have to play it again. Damn them with their catchiness.

PPS — Pixxx coming soon from the Crystal Antlers, Restaurant and Dark Meat show at The Echo; Willoughby at the Hotel Cafe; DL Stilts, Logo Moi and Restaurant at Possum Saloon at the Regent Theater (part of the downtown Art Walk); and Babygirl Garcia playing dodgeball.
