I like meeting other photographers. I learn a lot from talking to them or just watching them, of course, because even though I started doing this 12 years ago I didn’t really think much about it until this year.
It’s fantastically educational to be surrounded by people who are better prepared than me. At Street Scene in San Diego, for example, I learned that smart photographers carry little steps to stand on when confronted by a stage that’s six feet off the ground. Plus, it’s fun to chit chat about crazy contracts and have company when trying not to laugh too hard at security.
