Can’t believe I had this one sitting on my computer doing nothing until now. That was a fun weekend.

This one makes me really happy, because I LOVE GOGOL BORDELLO.

It really was a dance frenzy, too. I should actually take a picture of my feet, because I’ve never had bruises like it.

I worked the hardest I’d ever done in my life for my time in the pit because there were so many elements to photograph and I had no idea how long they’d let me stay there for — they were splitting photographers into groups, although the one security minion within earshot kept affecting a “huh? what? i don’t know, i just work here!” expression whenever anyone tried to ask him what was going on, so no one was able to confirm that whether those of us who weren’t escorted in would get access at all…

I put up a bit of a fuss (a sweet-smiley-ladylike fuss, but a fuss nonetheless) and got let in, and then when I was in there the boss security bloke felt it necessary to tap me on the shoulder twice and yell in my ear “If you move, I’ll kick you out!”

I stood as still as I possibly could while shooting like mad, frantically trying to get as much variety as I could from my spot at the very corner of the stage. It was probably my craziest shooting experience. I remember vaguely realising that I couldn’t feel my right hand (I was in a minor bus accident the night before, on my way to the T.I./Kanye West/Rihanna show — God, that’s a surreal sentence), but not daring to stop shooting for a second.

Once my time was up, the whole thing had been such a crazed kerfuffle that I just legged it into the crowd and danced like the world was about to end for the next two hours, because amazingly I wasn’t scheduled to shoot anything that conflicted.

T.I.’s record release show for “Paper Trail” at the Key Club was super duper fun, and included unannounced guest performances by Kanye West and Rihanna.

(Actually, I woke up this morning with them yelling “I want almost everything and I get almost everything I want” stuck in my head at six am, and am posting pictures in the hope that I will appease the Mae Shi gods and will be granted control of my brain again.)

It’s always interesting to see which shot an outlet will choose to use as the lead and I always try to guess, but I’m usually wrong. I had a feeling Prefix might go with this one, though:

I moved. I like it. I’d been saving my golden bedsheets for the new place. I like them, too.

In other news, I went to the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip last night and didn’t find it obnoxious at all. Pictures should be up on Prefix soon.

The whole thing was actually fun, and people were friendly and unpretentious (apart from those two stereotypically wasted Hollywood girls with their striped highlights, fake tans, VIP passes and desire to punch other women for absolutely no reason, but at least they gave the rest of us something to crack up over. Honestly, you should’ve seen them, with their plastic boobs bubbling out over their tube tops… comedy gold.)

Seriously, I can’t go out in Echo Park and end up chatting with lots of friendly, funny people — I’m not saying they don’t exist, I’m just saying that I don’t end up talking with them. I’m horrifically unfriendly myself, of course, but that’s what made last night so remarkable. People were just that nice.

I woke up that morning (after two hours’ sleep) freaking out scared that I wouldn’t get a jumping-in-front-of-the-sign shot of The Hives. Even before I was scheduled to shoot them, I’d been afraid for months that I one day might and would hate myself if I didn’t get it.

It took me ’til the last jump of the third song to get it, too. Phew. It’s hardly the best picture ever, but it exists. Personal goals: I haz, and I doez.
